San Diego is renowned for its idyllic climate, 70 miles of pristine beaches and a dazzling array of world-class attractions. In San Diego's East County, the terrain varies from gentle foothills to mile-high mountains and the historic mining town, Julian, down to the 600,000-acre Anza Borrego Desert State Park, offering nature-conscious visitors endless opportunities to hike, camp, fish, observe wildlife and much more.
In San Diego's North County, the agricultural community produces quantities of flowers and magnificent produce. Wine growers are also making a mark by growing and harvesting quality grapes that become excellent wines, which are served at some of the most elegant restaurants and resorts in the region. Along the west, 70 miles of Pacific Ocean coastline which supports year-round outdoor recreation, such as surfing, boating, sailing and swimming. To the south, it's a whole different country, Mexico, featuring its own cultural offerings in various towns along the border and coastline, including Tijuana, Rosarito and Ensenada.
Golf: There are over 90 courses located throughout the San Diego region from seaside settings to desert mountains to inland valleys. Add in San Diego's temperate climate and year round play is yet another benefit of this golfer's paradise.
Hiking & Nature Trails: San Diego has plenty of open space for hiking. Those who lack the time to explore the outskirts will find a day hike through the canyons and gardens of Balboa Park a great way to escape to nature without leaving the city.

Mission Trails Regional Park, Mission Valley:
Encompasses nearly 6,000 acres of mountains, wooded hillsides, lakes, and riparian streams and is only 8 miles north of downtown San Diego. Trails range from easy to difficult and include one with a superb view of the city from Cowles Mountain and another along a historic missionary path.
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park: is the nation's largest desert state park at more than 600,000 acres. There are countless trails for hiking, which is especially popular during the two-week desert wildflower bloom, which happens each year between early February and late April-the exact timing depends on winter rains, so it's best to call the park ahead of time for advice. The park is about a two-hour drive east of downtown San Diego, at the far eastern end of San Diego County.
Quail Botanical Gardens: A local attraction, just 20 miles north of downtown San Diego, offers scenic walks through its many unusual plant collections.
Pacific Rim Park: Inspirational Gateway park on Shelter Island, designed by James Hubbell, created by international students, honouring San Diego's sister city relationships.
San Diego Wine & Cultural Centre: Visit a wine cellar in the heart of downtown with an authentic wine cellar atmosphere and beautifully appointed demonstration kitchen.
The Flower Fields in Carlsbad, California: Come enjoy our spring seasonal bloom of 50+ acres of Giant Tecolote Ranunculus at The Flower Fields.
San Diego Natural History Museum: The Museum specializes in the nature of Southern California and Baja California, featuring exhibitions and giant-screen films about the flora and fauna of this region. It also hosts travelling exhibitions on a wide range of more global nature topics.
San Diego Air & Space Museum: See an authentic reproduction of the Wright Bros. 1903 flier. Imagine what it is like to break Earth's bonds and travel into outer space as you get a close up and personal view of NASA's Apollo 9 Command Module. This is the only Apollo spacecraft on display in Southwestern United States to have actually flown in outer space.
San Diego Zoo: Span the globe, viewing rare wildlife from around the world. Be immersed in tropical settings like the newest habitat, Monkey Trails & Forest Tales. Pandas: our world-famous celebrities. The San Diego Zoo has had a love affair with giant pandas ever since two of the black-and-white bears came to visit in 1987. After years of red tape and tons of application paperwork, the Zoo and China agreed on a 12-year research loan of two giant pandas, Bai Yun and Shi Shi. A brand-new exhibit area was built for our panda guests, which has since been expanded and renovated and is now called the Giant Panda Research Station.
San Diego's Zoo Wild Animal Park: At the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park go nose-to-nose with cats at Lion Camp or see a cheetah sprint before you at Cheetah Run Safari.
